Octopus is designed to accept input data from various data sources
and scanning geometries. Octopus processes raw projection data
acquired in the following geometries:
- Parallel beam: synchrotron and neutron sources
- Fan beam: high energy X-ray tubes and gamma sources
- Cone beam: X-ray tubes
- Helical cone beam: X-ray tubes
Our
software has been used intensively at neutron sources, synchrotron and
X-ray tube set-ups and is therefore adapted to cope with a variety of
image types. Octopus handles images stored in the TIFF format, but is
supplemented with a conversion routine which accepts PNG, FITS, BMP,
JPEG and various other file formats.
